Fraco began as The Campbell Bros. Coal Company delivering coal with horse drawn delivery vehicles. In the 1940's the firm started making concrete blocks one at a time along the waterfront. During this time Lincoln Frazier bought into the firm, and in 1947 the company built a new plant in downtown Marquette next to the fish dock. This plant incorporated a new semi-automatic Besser block machine and delivered block in a fleet of trucks under the name of Campbell Supply Co. Shortly after the new plant was put on line, the Campbell Bros. left the organization and Lincoln and Anne Frazier took control of the company. In 1980 Campbell Supply planned for the future by relocating south of Marquette in the village of Harvey. With the new plant came a third company name FRACO, Inc. and a new president Peter W. Frazier. Fraco added ready-mixed concrete production in 1983. back to about-us |
